Default How are pitchers using the impulse machine?

Are these pitchers using machine in a slow rhythm, or are they pulling the cord hard in a static manner? Also, are doing it with arms AND legs?

I imagine volleyball hitting would benefit the same way. I have the machine, just haven't started using it much yet. I've told myself my daughter has to build the infamous "base" of strength and jumping ability first. But I feel she's ready now.

She could start performing the star program on her off days but she isn't ready for phasic movements. In fact, I have not come across to many female athletes who ever were ready for phasic program in high school.

The lecturer stated that reactive/reflexive/elastic ability of the lower body really is how fast the foot can go from supination to pronation back to supination.

which explains why drummers are the best athletes

That study needs to use adult pitchers. 14 year olds are maturing so fast a lot of them could improve throwing velocity 8 mph sitting on their butt playing x-box

For 14 years olds, you make a valid point. I don't think there was a control in the study of junior high baseball players. However, I have had a number of 17/18 year olds who increased their velocity by 9 to 10 miles per hour their senior year. One came out of nowhere and is playing division I.

If you're interested in improving the swing in volleyball look at really increasing strength through the scapula...

1) Facepulls with dual pulleys
2) Scarecrows with dual pulleys, on knees in front of machine pulling from a higher position
3) YTWL's face down on an incline bench
4) Chins

And of course technique, technique, technique. PM me and I'll go into it a bit more.

Use of the impulse machine is starting to remind me of Schroder's stuff. Very cryptic and nobody can ever do it right. I can't see how it's that hard to master the slow-pulling moves. A week or so? There must be some big thing I'm missing.

west is sayong that women should start on the slower tonic movements. phasic is more explosive in nature and requires a bit more coordination.

use of the impulse is nothing like the ldisos stuff. it is pretty easy to get and a great way to condition core function into rapid plyometric activities.

It just feels like it is cryptic because only a handful of coaches here have access to one.
