Foot function and corrective exercises
I wasn't sure which to post this under so I thought this would be a good place to start. I recently twisted ankle playing basketball and had a physical therapist take a look at it. I have a very high arch and a foot that is predisposed to twisting (supination side, rolling outward spraining the ATFL) he told me that my ankle is very locked up with the tibia and fibia (*Spelling?) being out of place or being shifted. Based on some of the youtube vids I've seen, it seems that due to tight achillies and calves overall this is becoming more common. I was under the assumption that most of the fix would come from hands on physical therapy.
My questions are basically other than the ankle rocker exercises what else can I do to improve my foot function (Getting my ankle back into a stable neutral position)? How much can I expect this to improve my jump height and speed (I play basketball and try to do a lot of vertical jump training)? And does anyone have any experience with kiniseo taping for ankles and does it work?
